Itinerary

Your Toubkal trekking adventure begins with your arrival in Marrakech. Upon landing, our local representative will meet you at the airport and ensure a seamless transfer to M’Zik, a small Berber village near Imlil, the gateway to the Toubkal Massif.

  • Travel time: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Elevation: ~1,800m
  • Accommodation: Gîte d’étape (traditional Berber guesthouse)

Once settled, you’ll have time to explore the surroundings and get accustomed to the high-altitude environment. The fresh mountain air, combined with the peaceful atmosphere of M’Zik, makes for the perfect start to your journey. A delicious Moroccan dinner will be served before resting for the exciting trek ahead.

After an early breakfast, we set off on our first full day of trekking, following scenic trails through the Aremd Valley. The path winds through lush terraced fields, small villages, and walnut groves before reaching Sidi Chamharouch, a spiritual pilgrimage site famous for its white shrine and flowing springs.

  • Hiking duration: ~5-6 hours
  • Elevation gain: ~1,400m
  • Terrain: Forest trails, river crossings, and rocky inclines

As we ascend, the lush greenery transitions to a more rugged, arid landscape. The final stretch is a steep climb to Refuge Neltner (3,207m), where we will spend the night. This high-altitude lodge provides a perfect base for acclimatization before the summit push.

The most anticipated day of your Toubkal trekking journey begins before dawn. We start early to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and enjoy the mesmerizing sunrise over the Atlas Mountains.

  • Hiking duration: ~3-4 hours ascent, ~5-6 hours descent
  • Elevation gain: ~960m
  • Terrain: Steep rocky slopes and scree paths

After a challenging yet rewarding climb, we reach the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m), where breathtaking 360-degree views await. From here, you can see the vast Sahara Desert to the south, the Siroua Massif, and the jagged peaks of the Anti-Atlas.

Following a brief rest at the summit, we begin the long descent back to M’Zik, retracing our steps through valleys and rocky paths. Upon arrival, we celebrate our achievement with a well-earned meal and a comfortable night at the gîte.

After a relaxing breakfast in the mountain village, we embark on our return journey to Marrakech. The drive takes approximately two hours, offering one last chance to soak in the stunning landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains.

Upon arrival in Marrakech, you can choose to explore the vibrant city, visit historic landmarks such as the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, Koutoubia Mosque, or the Majorelle Garden, or simply relax after an incredible adventure.

  • Optional Add-on: Extend your trip with a guided tour of Marrakech or a desert excursion.
